Five Heroes - Dialogue Barks

NPC Poke Dialogue

About Five Heroes

Five Heroes is a story-driven turn-based RPG. As a warlord, you recruit heroes, complete quests, progress through the storyline, defeat various enemies and bosses and upgrade your heroes.

My Involvement
Along with designing quests and levels, I wrote poke NPC dialogue - things the NPCs say when the player interacts with them. Usually, it's just their everyday problems with humor and irony. Sometimes, it can be some additional information to reflect on the storyline or hints about hidden treasure nearby. Sometimes, they can share interesting stories about the world - its history, myths, and legends.

Skeletons are coming!

An ancient curse has started awakening the dead. Skeletons are everywhere, terrorizing the villages across the kingdom. The peasants have rather mixed reactions on the matter:

The King's soldiers

Since the dead have started plaguing the lands, the King's army does its best to defend the lands. But soldiers, just like peasants, have their own experiences to share:

Skeletons are not an excuse!

Despite the dire situation, the feudal landlords crack their whip even harder. Peasants have work to do, no excuses. An army of skeletons? Never heard of. Some of them prefer to delegate the dirty work to Boblins, a group of hard-working immigrants from far away:

Death is extra coin

Skeletons are not some enemy from a distant kingdom. Every farmer gets to reunite with a deceased family member risen as a skeleton. Graveyards have become the most dangerous places in the kingdom. But some villagers seem to profit from it:

Donkey's Favor

Donkey's Favor - a sticky brown substance produced by donkeys, that happens to be very popular across the kingdom. It is advertised as a solution for multiple purposes - building muscles, skincare, and even just to chill with. And of course, there is a black market for similar and/or fake products that are significantly cheaper but less reliable:

A history that no one learns from

The Firestone Kingdom has a rich history as well. A history the King doesn't learn from. Most of the kingdom's history has turned into myths and legends:

Praise the Archon!

The Iron City is a beacon of light for all of Andoran. It is ruled by the Archon, an angelic being with immense powers. Most of the citizens of the Iron City revere or even worship him:

The corruption from beneath

An evil substance breaks loose from hell and floods the Iron City's water canals and mines. It twists and corrupts everything in its wake. But some citizens remain unconcerned about it:

The mines and the working class

The Iron City is not all wealthy and clean. Most of its iron comes from the mines. But those working in the mines cannot afford the privileges of the Iron City. Hence their resentment:

Boblins in sewers

The Mines extend to the sewers, home to thieves, burglars, and the Boblins. There, underneath the Iron City, is an entirely different life:

Check your pirate privilege!

South of the kingdom, across the sea, lies Midland - an array of islands inhabited by Amazons. These female warriors aren't exactly welcoming, especially if you are a pirate. But the Queen's sister, Alexa, is in love with an ex-pirate. Over time, she forsakes her tribe's traditions and becomes more and more like the sworn enemies of the Amazons:

Taste my arrow!

Amazons are not as savage as others believe them to be. They are familiar with mathematics, especially when it comes to counting arrows:

The Amazons

Not all Amazons are warriors. Just like any society, they have farmers, artisans, religious adepts, etc. The frequent pirate raids shaped their society differently:

Bored peasants

Some peasants aren't working because they are too busy arguing about very important things. Others are busy with raising pets or just guarding the gates and hope to be replaced:

Barhalla - The mother of all Amazons

The Amazons have their own Pantheon they worship. They gods are deified historical figures, thanks to whom the Amazon tribes exist today:

Inal'ra'bak - The deified male Amazon

Not all Amazon heroes and gods are women. One of the key figures in their pantheon is a man. A man who died protecting the Amazon tribe:
